Holland Pub is a free online card game. We collect as little as a game like this needs — an account and the games you play — and nothing more. No ads, no analytics trackers, and your data is never sold.
Who we are
Holland Pub ("we", "us") provides the Holland Pub card game in the browser and in the iOS and Android apps. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at admin@hollandpub.com.
What we collect
- Account details. The display name, email address, and password you sign up with. Your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never see or store it in plain text.
- Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We never see your Google password. If your Google email matches an existing Holland Pub account, the two are linked into one account.
- Your games. The hands you play: games, moves, results, coins, and who sat across the table — whether a house bot or another player.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP addresses and request metadata) generated by our hosting infrastructure, used for security and to keep the service running.
What we don't collect
There are no analytics or advertising trackers in the app, no third-party tracking cookies, and no profiling. We don't collect your location, contacts, or anything from your device beyond what's listed above. We never sell your data, and there are no in-app purchases or payments of any kind.
How we use your data
We use the data above only to run the game:
- Creating your account and signing you in.
- Dealing you into games, keeping games in sync between players, and letting you resume a hand where you left off.
- Keeping score — your coins and results.
- Securing the service and preventing abuse.
- Contacting you about your account if we ever need to (we don't send marketing email).
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are the performance of our contract with you (providing the game you signed up for) and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
Cookies and local storage
We use only what's strictly necessary to keep you signed in: a session token stored on your device (in your browser's local storage, or the app's private storage on iOS and Android), and, depending on configuration, an equivalent authentication cookie. Nothing is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
What other players see
Players you share a table with can see your display name and the result of the game you played together. Your email address is never shown to other players.
Where your data lives
Your account and game data are stored in our databases and processed on cloud infrastructure operated by our hosting providers (currently Heroku and a managed database service). These providers may process data in the EU and/or the United States; where data leaves the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU's standard contractual clauses.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the game:
- Our hosting and database providers, which store and process the data on our behalf.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only to complete the sign-in.
Beyond that, we would disclose data only if legally required to. We never share it for advertising, and we never sell it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and game data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep something longer. Server logs are kept only briefly for security and operations.
Your rights
You can always ask us to:
- Show you the data we hold about you (access), or hand it over (portability).
- Correct anything that's wrong (rectification).
- Delete your account and data (erasure).
- Restrict or object to how we process it.
Email admin@hollandpub.com from the address on your account and we'll take care of it. If you're in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
Holland Pub is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and revise the "last updated" date above. If a change meaningfully affects your rights, we'll make it clearly visible in the app first.
